It is often the case that tiles are required to be fixed to backgrounds that are unsuitable for areas where high levels of moisture are encountered. The British Standards for tiling dictate that plaster and timber should not be tiled in wet areas such as shower enclosures and wetrooms as these backgrounds are not resistant to moisture. Furthermore the Standards state that adhesive and grout cannot be considered to form a waterproof structure. Sovereign Watertite is an easy to apply ready mixed waterproofing compound for moisture sensitive backgrounds. Watertite is used to tank areas prior to tiling and is available on its own or as a full kit for a shower that includes a roller, mixing bucket for adhesive and reinforcing membranes for corners and under shower trays.
