SOVEREIGN is the market leader in the field of chemical damp proof coursing, façade treatment and remedial timber treatment. This reputation has been gained for the quality of its products and also for the support and care offered under the Sovereign Protection Scheme Guarantee. Since 1976 over half a million satisfied property owners are testimony to the effectiveness of the Scheme.
Flexibility is available with the choice of 10, 20 or 30 year Protection Scheme Guarantees for timber and damp proof courses and the introduction of a 10 year Guarantee for façade treatment.
Sovereign Protection Scheme Guarantees are offered by remedial contractors who have been vetted by Sovereign. Only when we are satisfied that they are capable of carrying out work to a consistently high standard do we allow
contractors to apply to become Sovereign Approved Contractors. Regular site visits ensure that standards of workmanship and customer care are maintained.
Sovereign believes that it is essential that specifiers and the public at large are protected. Even the most conscientious and meticulous contractor may not be available to service his guarantee due to circumstances beyond his control. In this event Sovereign intervene.
Once the Sovereign Protection Scheme Guarantee has been issued the property is covered against a recurrence of the original problem for the full term of the Guarantee. This cover is initially supplied by the contractor, however, if he is no longer in business, Sovereign will arrange for the necessary retreatment to be carried out by another Sovereign Approved Contractor. All work will be completed to Sovereign Specifications at all times. This protection is provided for a one off payment based upon the original contract value, including, where applicable, the re-rendering, subject to a minimum charge of £40 plus VAT.
Sovereign Protection Scheme Guarantees are used by Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Building Societies and Banks, as well as many thousands of householders.
For your Total Protection we strongly recommend that you specify Sovereign Protection Scheme Guarantees.
Alternative guarantees exist, offering varying degrees of cover, however there is usually a drawback. Always request a copy and read the small print.
Insurance backing is often quoted for guarantees. We all have insurance ourselves, our property and our vehicles, but what happens if we have a bad claims record? The premiums rise! In the case of many insurance backed guarantees they are covered by term assurance renewable every two or three years.
If there is a high claims record the underwriter may refuse to reinsure at the end of the term. In such cases the householder is returned a percentage of the original premium, based on the unexpired period of guarantee. This could amount to a few pounds on a contract worth hundreds or even thousands, and the householder is left with no cover against future problems.
Some guarantees are limited in what they cover. For example, in chemical damp proofing, replastering is almost always essential and many companies exclude this from the guarantee. Re-plastering can often represent well over half the original contract value, but is covered by the Sovereign Protected Guarantees when it has been included in the original total contract price.
Other guarantees exist which give less cover, often only remaining operational whilst the contractor is still in business. In these instances they become worthless if the contractor ceases to trade.
In the unlikely event of a claim against a Sovereign Protection Scheme Guarantee, the original Sovereign Approved Contractor should be contacted in the first instance. If the contractor has ceased to trade then claims, together with the original Guarantee, should be forwarded to our Guarantee Claims Department at our Head Office.
An initial inspection of the documentation will be made. At this stage an inspection fee is payable, prior to a site visit taking place, to establish the validity of the claim. Unfortunately, many alleged claims are received where the problem is unrelated to the work guaranteed. They may simply be as a result of poor maintenance, roof leaks, condensation etc. At this point we will issue a report and advise on the action to take.
If the claim is found to be valid, then a Sovereign Approved Contractor will be asked to carry out the necessary rectification work as speedily as possible to the householder’s convenience. In this instance the initial inspection fee will be returned in full.
Where another qualified technical report disputes the findings of our own technical assessment then Sovereign is prepared to involve an independent arbitrator, whose decision will be binding on all parties.
Sovereign Protection Scheme Guarantees are available only from Sovereign Approved Contractors. A list of all contractors is held at our Head Office. In addition they may be found advertising under Damp Proofing Control and Woodworm and Dry Rot Control in your local Yellow Pages.
Sovereign Protection Scheme Guarantees are administered by Sovereign Chemicals Limited. They are supported by assets of Sovereign which is part of one of the largest chemical companies in the world.
Always specify a SOVEREIGN Protection Scheme Guarantee for long term peace of mind on remedial contracts.
